Shown here are four diesel-electric locomotives pulling an eastbound manifest freight train that stretches all the way around this curve in the Susquehanna River and out of sight at the upper right. In the lead (R to L) are engines #2281, #2527, #2234, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2281 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in June of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2527 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in October of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2234 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. Pictured at the left (L to R) are PRR engines #2433, #2239, #2362, and #2286. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2239 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2362 and #2286 are EF-25's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2362 was built in March of 1965, but #2286 was built in June of 1964. Description:  WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad paŠsenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engine #2247 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by EMD1 #2247 is an EF-22 built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train near Mount Union, Pennsylvania. Note the steepness of the mountain slope bordering the tracks!

And #2249 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,200 horsepower. They're pulling a 106-car westbound iron-ore train along with N-8 cabin car #478216.

They are pulling a 160-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with caboose #477243. This photo was taken at the Route 483 Bridge. Up to October of 2010, at least, #2249 was in active excursion service with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Cumberland, Maryland, as number "501."

They are travelling down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve and through Altoona to the Enola Yards with a train of 98 "Ore Jennies." The caboose is #477448.
